Meet Dr. Alan Freedman
In 1987, Alan Freedman, M.D. was certified by the
American Board of Urology (ABU) and has been
practicing in this specialty for more than 20 years.
He has continually passed rigorous additional testing
and reviews required by the ABU for re-certification.
His practice is centered in Newport Beach, next to Hoag Hospital’s main campus. He has served in the past, as well as currently, as the Chairman of Urology and a member of the hospital’s Executive Committee. Raised in Boston, Dr. Freedman received
his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology, graduating cum
laude from Harvard College. He went on to obtain his
medical doctorate from the UCLA School of Medicine.
After completing a two-year Surgical Residency
at Harvard’s Massachusetts General Hospital, Dr.
Freedman returned to UCLA Medical Center, where
he completed his Residency in Urology.
He has held academic appointments
at Harvard Medical
School and the UCLA
School of Medicine; and
has had the privilege to
train at two of the top
five teaching hospitals in the country.
Dr. Freedman has two children. He
loves to travel, ski, read, and play alto
saxophone. Live theatre and independent/foreign films
are also high on his list of things to do in his spare time.
